TheDividendDesk is an independent research blog about dividend ETFs, income investing, and the taxes that come with them. It is run by one individual investor, not a financial firm, and not a team of analysts.
Who Runs This Site
I'm an individual investor who holds and studies dividend and income funds with my own money. I am nota licensed financial advisor, CPA, or tax professional, and nothing here is personalized advice. I don't manage money for anyone, and I'm not paid by any fund company mentioned on the site.
The site is published under the TheDividendDesk name rather than a personal byline. Articles are credited to “DividendDesk Research,” which refers to the process described below, not to a staff of researchers.
Why This Site Exists
Most dividend content repeats the same claims: a fund's yield, a list of top holdings, a verdict. Very little of it checks those claims with real numbers.
Every article here starts with a question that can be tested, such as:
- Does rebalancing a dividend portfolio still pay after capital gains tax?
- Which kind of bond actually cushioned a dividend portfolio's bad years?
- How much does a Roth IRA save on an international fund once the foreign tax credit is lost?
We gather the public data, run the calculation, and publish the result, including when it contradicts common advice and when it depends on one unusual year.
What You Can Expect in Every Article
- Original calculations. Figures come from our own computations on published data, not from summarizing other articles.
- Stated assumptions. Tax rates, time periods, starting balances, and simplifications are listed in each article.
- Limitations. Each analysis ends with what it doesn't capture.
- Corrections. When we find an error, we fix the article and record it on our Corrections page.
